13th annual Town & Country
to take place Feb. 18 at FHS

Howard County's Thirteenth Annual Town & Country event will take place Saturday, Feb. 18, at Fayette High School.

Town & Country promotes local businesses, provides educational opportunities and recognizes citizens who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.

A business expo, educational programs, 4-H achievement demonstrations and an evening banquet are all part of the T&C event. Individuals may attend all or one of the offerings.

Banquet - 6 p.m.

Crowning the Town & Country event is a banquet ceremony which includes a dinner catered by Country Cuisine Catering, Boonville, local awards presentations, local talent and entertainment by Bruce Blakemore. Chris Rohlfing will serve as master of ceremonies. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance. They are available at the Howard County Extension Office in the Courthouse, at Commercial Trust Co. and at New Franklin City Hall. For more information, contact the Extension Office at 248-2272. (Tickets will be collected prior to the dinner.)

 4-H Achievement Day

Members of 4-H will demonstrate what they have learned in the program. Sessions begin at 11:30 a.m. and will take place in the FHS classrooms.

 Show Me Quality Assurance

Available to 4-H members only will be Show Me Quality Assurance (SMQA) certification from 9 to 11 a.m. The SMQA program emphasizes good management practices in the handling and use of animal health products, and encourages producers to review their approach to their herds' health programs. By completing this program, producers demonstrate their commitment to animal production. The entire industry benefits from widespread producer commitment to the program. The program, if put into practice by the majority of U.S. producers, will help the industry protect or even expand its market. This will be accomplished by reducing the risk of incidents that could destroy consumer confidence.

Preregistration is required to attend the SMQA certification session.
