Henry Graham, grant author, announced December 2 that
the Fayette Rotary Club has received a $1000 grant from District 6080 in
support of an $1800 project to purchase two sound systems for the
Fayette Public Schools. Our club has yet to
raise the $800 match before the sound systems may be purchased.
Henry states in the grant
application that "Sound field systems used in school classrooms have
been demonstrated to significantly improve student auditory learning
which constitutes at least 45% of the curriculum. The Fayette School
District has been using such systems since 1998-9 with marked
improvements in student attentiveness, focus, comprehension, and scores,
both in special needs and regular classrooms. Their success with these
sound field systems is matched by results nationwide and scientifically
documented studies showing remarkably better student progress in all
subject areas and most especially in reading, spelling, and math when
sound field systems are used."
Fayette Rotary Club does not have tax
exempt status. Donations may be made to Fayette R-III School
restricted to this project.
