Brochure

In what’s believed to be a first for the Fayette Rotary Club, we now have a Membership Brochure for reference as needed. It’s designed to help our Rotarians have some facts on hand about the organization, both locally and beyond, and to enable them to better know their fellow members.
    The work is the brainchild of member Jim Steele and evolved, in part, to replace the outside bulletin cover which had heretofore been used for the monthly printed bulletin. Acting on Jim’s suggestion, the board this summer approved discontinuation of the bulletin since the information, by and large, was already available from the Web-site. This also saves the club about $300 a year.
    One particular feature of the new membership brochure is that it includes a full roster of members that previously was not readily available. Covered are member occupations and classifications, names of spouses, phone numbers, addresses, and the year of joining the club.
    Other facets of the brochure include a listing of officers, board members, and monthly program chairs, in addition to committee chairs. Also, there is the usual updated listing of Paul Harris fellows, past presidents, secretaries and treasurers, etc.
    Included, too, is an overview of “What is Rotary” and a history of the organization since its founding in 1905. In addition, the brochure has The Object of Rotary, Avenues of Service, the RI Mission Statement, the current Strategic Plan, and the Four-Way Test.
    The publication will be particularly helpful for new members and visitors.
    Jim explains that this is “a work in progress.” Already several changes have been noted. On the list of program chairs for the year, April and May are incorrect. April should read Chuck Thompson (not Dennis Potter) and May should read Paula Ritchie (not Chuck Thompson).
    Also, Don Cullimore (2008) and Jessica Quint (2009) should be added to the list of Paul Harris Fellows, and J.B. Waggoner’s office phone is incorrect. The correct number is 248-1911.
