On July 20, 2011, Hayleigh
Brunkhorst, and Garrett Garing shared their experiences at Girls and
Boys State. The Girls event was held
June 19-25 on
the campus of Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg.
Boys State was held at the same place, June 11-18.
Five girls and
four boys from the junior classes of Fayette and New Franklin
selected by the American Legion White-Bell post 273 attended the
2011 sessions.
To be eligible
for Missouri Girls and Boys State, participants must be a junior in
high school with at least one more semester of high school
remaining, have high moral character, good sportsmanship, scholastic
and leadership ability and be interested in government and current
events. They must also be willing to show respect to the American
flag.
Female delegates from Fayette were: Hayleigh
Brunkhorst, daughter of Neil and Karen Brunkhorst; Ronnia Estes,
daughter of Curtis Jackman; Mackenzie Stitzel, daughter of Colleen
Mahon; an alternate Nazow Tarakai, daughter of Ashraf and Satarow
Tarakai.
Delegates from New Franklin were: Cheyanne
Boggs, daughter of Kenneth and Beverly Boggs; BrieAna Grant,
daughter of Gary and Trisha Grant; and alternate Amanda Cook,
daughter of Larry and Brenda Cook.
Male delegates from Fayette were: Garrett
Garing, son of Hope Smith, and Dillan Grosvenor, son of Joe and
Donnell Grosvenor.
Delegates from New Franklin were: Austin Baker,
son of Tim and Michelle Baker, and Gordon Blodgett, son of Clayton
and Gwen Blodgett.

Assisting the delegates financially are the Commercial Trust Co.,
Fayette Rotary Club, Exchange Bank of Missouri, New Franklin Lions
Club, New Franklin PTO and Fayette American Legion Post #273. |
